Kieran Trippier’s Juventus move hinges on Man City’s transfer business

Tottenham’s Kieran Trippier & Juventus

Claims that Kieran Trippier’s Tottenham future may be drawing to a close have been circling for a while.

28-year-old Trippier was star for England at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

However, the right-back attracted plenty of negative analysis in 2018-19 as his performances for Spurs appeared to dip.

Recently Trippier has been linked with a possible summer exit to Serie A.

Under contract with Tottenham until 2022, Napoli were the first Italian club linked with the English defender.

Italian transfer guru Gianluca Di Marzio previously report that Napoli, managed by Carlo Ancelotti, offered Spurs between €18 to €20 million for Trippier.

This weekend, the Sunday Times report that Juventus are now in the race for Trippier.

Trippier move may hinge on Man City’s transfer business

So will Juventus sign Trippier?

The Sunday Times note that the deal could be dependent on Man City’s moves in the summer market:

Juventus will target Tottenham’s World Cup star Kieran Trippier should they sell Joao Cancelo, their Portugal right-back, to Manchester City.

The serial Italian champions believe Trippier could represent an upgrade on Cancelo, but any move is dependent on Cancelo’s potential €50m (£45m) switch to City going through.

25-year-old Portuguese international Cancelo only joined Serie A champions Juve last summer, in a 40 million euro deal from Valencia.

The Sunday Times reveal that City and Juventus “were on the brink of an agreement” for Cancelo, however “complications have arisen” which means that transfer has stalled.
