Barcelona vs Man United

Manchester United and Barcelona went head-to-head on Tuesday as they vied for a place in the Champions League semi-final.

United lost the first leg 1-0 thanks to a Luke Shaw own goal.

Heading into the second leg, the main focus was on United’s starting line-up.

The out of form Ashley Young retained his place in the back four despite his poor display in the first leg and vs Wolves.

Then, Phil Jones was played at right-back while Diogo Dalot sat on the bench.

Messi vs the top six

Man United got off to a fairly positive start on Tuesday with Marcus Rashford hitting the crossbar inside 30 seconds.

Rashford would then set up Scott McTominay who failed to get the ball under control.

After failing to capitalise on their early dominance, United were punished.

Ashley Young’s mistake led to Lionel Messi getting to the edge of the Man United box and curling in a superb goal.

Messi would add his second minutes later thanks to a howler from David de Gea.

After scoring a brace vs Man United, Messi has now found the net 24 times in 32 UCL games vs English opposition.

No player has scored more vs English clubs in the competition.

Messi has also scored the 4th most goals against the English top six, despite never playing in the Premier League.
