The agent of Arsenal loanee Denis Suarez has this evening briefly opened up on his client’s struggles in England, also confirming that the midfielder is carrying an injury problem.

Arsenal stint

Suarez, a versatile 25-year-old attacking midfielder/winger, joined Arsenal in January, following a disappointing two-and-a-half year spell on the books of Barcelona.

The Spaniard made the move to the Emirates for the remainder of the campaign, with Arsenal holding an option to make his signing permanent in the summer.

However, to say that Suarez’s stint in North London has since proven a disappointment would be something of an understatement.

To this point, the former Villarreal star has managed just 6 appearances across all competitions in Arsenal’s colours, all of which have come from the bench.

As things stand, all of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Alex Iwobi, Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey sit firmly ahead of Suarez in the attacking midfield/winger pecking order at the Emirates, with little indication having been forthcoming that the situation is set to change any time soon.

In fact, Charles Watts of Football.London last month provided an insight into the former Manchester City youth’s struggles in England thus far, seemingly confirming that the Arsenal board have no intention of purchasing Suarez outright at the end of the season:

‘He’s just not been good enough. Simple as that really.’

‘He clearly hasn’t done enough in training to convince Emery he should be starting. And he hasn’t done enough on the pitch to suggest he deserves more minutes.’

‘I can’t see any way that Suarez will still be here next season.’

‘Hasn’t been his best’

As such, speaking in an interview with Radio Kiss Kiss this evening, Suarez’s agent, Felix Guende, was questioned on his client’s future.

And after seemingly hinting that a return to Barcelona looks very much on the cards, Guende went on to confirm that Suarez missed Arsenal’s clash with Watford yesterday evening through injury:

‘He has two years left at Barcelona. This year in England hasn’t been his best. He’s played little and hasn’t been able to find a rhythm.’

‘At the moment, he’s injured. He has muscle fatigue and an injury.’
