‘The poorest performance since I’ve come here’: Solskjaer on Wolves loss

Wolves 2-Manchester United 1

Man United travelled to Wolves on Saturday as they looked to book their place in the FA Cup semi-final,

Manchester City and Watford had already secured their spot in the final four earlier in the day.

As if often the case when Wolves play a big side, they sat back, defended well and hit the opposition on the counter-attack.

Wolves would eventually take the lead in the 70th minute via Raul Jimenez.

Diogo Jota would add a second just six minutes later.

Marcus Rashford did pull one back for Man United in the 95th minute but it was too little too late.

OGS on the Wolves defeat

After their FA Cup exit, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gave a damming assessment of his side’s performance.

United had a superb start to life under Solskjaer, beating Arsenal and Chelsea in the FA Cup and dominating in the league.

Man United also completed a superb comeback vs PSG in the Champions League.

However, their unbeaten run in the league came to an end last weekend vs Arsenal and now Solskjaer has hit out at their Wolves display:

“It was a big step backwards, that’s the poorest performance since I’ve come here.

“Lack of urgency, forward passing, and regains. I told the players the truth. Of course you can’t sit down and sulk too long. Everyone is disappointed, but we have to move forward.

“We know that we played well against Arsenal last week and didn’t get what we deserved, but we got what we deserved today.”As quoted by the Evening Standard.
