The father of Manchester United veteran Antonio Valencia has confirmed the interest of a pair of Premier League rivals in his son’s services.

United stint

Valencia, now 33, made his name in England with Wigan Athletic during a 3-year spell between 2006 and 2009.

The then-explosive winger’s superb performances with the Latics eventually led to Manchester United splashing out £16 million to bring Valencia to Old Trafford in the summer of 2009.

And the Ecuadorian subsequently went on to emerge as an absolute staple for the Red Devils, too, with his lung-busting showings up-and-down United’s right-flank having seen Valencia establish himself as a firm fan-favourite.

The 2011/12 campaign perfectly-showcased the South American’s importance to United, as Valencia notched 4 goals and a whopping 13 assists in the Premier League alone, en route to the club’s Player of the Year award.

However, after continuing to impress following a shift to a full-back/wing-back berth, a major dip in form for the veteran over the last couple of seasons has since seen Valencia completely lose his place in the first-team setup of the Manchester giants.

To this point in the current campaign, the 93-time capped international has managed just 5 Premier League appearances.

London bound?

As such, with his contract due to expire in June, Valencia is widely-expected to depart Old Trafford come the summer.

Bur, as per the aforementioned update courtesy of the versatile stopper’s father this afternoon, he will not be short on options in his search for a new club.

Speaking in an interview with El Universo, Luis Valencia confirmed the interest of a pair of Premier League sides, as well as one from each of Italy and China, in the Manchester United outcast:

‘Arsenal, West Ham, Inter Milan and one club from China are options, but in football everything is changing.’
