That is because Perez is entertaining the possibility of a transfer.

The Spanish forward has explained in an interview with MARCA that he would like to return to his homeland and play in La Liga someday.

Though, when asked about his future with Everton and Tottenham cited as suitors, Perez admitted he was hoping for ‘something very good’.

“Yes. I am very grateful to Newcastle – I have grown and matured here, but it is obvious that some day I would like to come back and play in La Liga,” Perez explained.

When asked ‘there have been plenty of admirers: Everton, Tottenham … What does the future hold?’, Perez certainly didn’t shy away from the possibility of joining either team.

“To this day, I do not know. I hope something very good. I believe that I have made merit these five years [only 15 games have been lost] so that a good opportunity presents itself.”
