BATE vs Arsenal

Arsenal are set to take on BATE in the first leg of their Europa League clash on Thursday.

With the Gunners out of the FA and League Cup, the Europa League is the best chance of Unai Emery landing silverware in his first season as Arsenal boss.

Winning the Europa League would also qualify Arsenal for next seasons Champions League, something they may struggle to earn through domestic competition.

Arsenal are currently 5th in the Premier League, one point off the top four.

However, their form has been somewhat inconsistent, losing two of their last five league games.

4th place Manchester United, however, are undefeated in their last nine league outings, winning eight of those.

So, Emery should probably be putting out his best squad for their Europa League ties.

Mesut Ozil missing from travelling squad

One player who does not appear to be in Emery’s plans for BATE is Mesut Ozil.

On Wednesday, Arsenal have released the list of players who have travelled for Thursday’s clash.

Perhaps the biggest name missing from the list is Mesut Ozil.

&

Ozil has had a mixed 2018/19 season under Unai Emery.

The German has not featured in Arsenal’s last two league games but was captain as Arsenal beat Cardiff 2-1.

However, him being left completely out of the squad does not seem to be a good sign.

The Telegraph have also recently reported that Arsenal are actively trying to sell the midfielder.
