Manchester City to give Vincent Kompany a new deal

New deal on the horizon for Kompany

Manchester City defender and captain Vincent Kompany is set to sign a new deal with his current contract set to expire at the end of the season.

The Belgian central defender has been pivotal in Man City’s recent history but probably hasn’t played as much as he would have liked.

Kompany has really struggled with injury over the past few years and that has kept him out of the majority of games in recent seasons.

Despite that, he will no doubt be as important as ever in the dressing room and off the field.

Because of that, and with reports suggesting he is ‘incredibly popular with the club’s hierarchy’, he is set to sign a new deal.

Another year of captain Kompany

Goal explain that Kompany is set to sign a new one-year deal with Manchester City.

They claim that ‘all parties are keen for him to extend his stay at the Etihad Stadium, though there is no deal in place at present.’

Goal’s report goes on to explain that Kompany is willing to take a wage cut to stay.

They claim that Kompany currently earns around £120,000 per week currently but will take the cut ‘such is his determination to stay at the club.’

Finally, Goal also claim that talks are ongoing in relation to a role after Kompany retires.

This is said to be ‘regarding a non-playing role after his eventual retirement’.

Safe to say, Man City fans will be happy to see their captain remain for another year.
