Manchester United 0 – PSG 2

Are Man United out of the Champions League?

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s winning run at Old Trafford is over following a fabulous performance from PSG at the Theatre of Dreams.

PSG, who have never gone beyond the last-16 of this competition, were superior to United in a 2-0 win.

Both PSG goals came in the second half.

Centre-half Presnel Kimpembe broke the deadlock when he converted from a corner.

Minutes later the Parisians were 2-up thanks to Kylian Mbappe.

Angel di Maria claimed both assists for Thomas Tuchel’s men.

How was Presnel Kimpembe still on the field when he opened the scoring vs United?

Prior to kick-off on Tuesday night, Arsene Wenger, speaking on beIN Sports, highlighted how Kimpembe could be a weakness for PSG.

Wenger noted that Kimpembe is often rash, while he’s recently been a magnet for yellow cards.

Wenger’s fears for Kimpembe were borne out at Old Trafford. Indeed, many Man United fans, including OGS, couldn’t believe that Kimpembe wasn’t sent off in the tie.

Kimpembe’s fouls vs Man United

Kimpembe was booked in the 11th minute of the match.

After Marcus Rashford turned the centre-half, Kimpembe stopped the United forward with an obvious grab.

Could Kimpembe have been sent off in the 32nd minute?

The PSG defender took down Luke Shaw after the Man United left-back slipped the ball through his legs.

Fortunately for PSG’s number three, the referee decided to keep his cards in his pocket.

Presnel Kimpembe’s second foul vs Man United

Early in the second half, Kimpembe committed yet another foul.

Once again Kimpembe tangled with Rashford as the Man United forward tried to latch onto a forward pass.

Kimpembe clearly put his hands all over Rashford in order to push his opponent out of the way.

Had Kimpembe not been booked earlier, he’d surely have been carded for that foul.

Yet, in a blow for Man United, the PSG defender escaped a second booking.

What Ole Gunnar Solskjaer thought

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer expressed his disappointment after the match that Kimpembe stayed on the pitch.

Solskjaer claimed Kimpembe was “very” lucky to have avoided a red card, adding:

The way he throws [Marcus] Rashford down to the floor second half and we don’t even get a foul.
