Emmanuel Petit identifies how Jorginho can improve for Chelsea

Petit on Jorginho at Chelsea

Maurizio Sarri was appointed as Chelsea boss over the summer of 2018.

On arriving at Stamford Bridge, Sarri would choose to sign one of his former players from his time at Napoli, Jorginho.

Chelsea paid over £50m for the Italian central midfielder. So far though, Jorginho has failed to live up to his price tag.

Jorginho has featured in and started 25 of Chelsea’s 26 league games this campaign, scoring just one and earning zero assists.

After a slow start to life in England, former Chelsea midfielder Emmanuel Petit has called on Jorginho to speed up his game.

“I have nothing against Jorginho, I think he is a beautiful player. But this is the Premier League, this is not Serie A.

“You don’t play in Italy the same way you play in England. In Italy you have more time when you play, more time to manage the ball and they do it beautifully, no doubt.

“But in the Premier League when you play as a holding midfielder you only have two, three seconds to think. You have to see before even receiving the ball. You have to play quick, fast.”As quoted by Metro.

Chelsea’s increasingly worrying form

While Jorginho has been getting a fair bit of stick in recent weeks, Chelsea as a squad must take responsibility for their poor form.

Chelsea would be humiliated by Manchester City last weekend, losing 6-0.

This was Chelsea’s third loss in five Premier League games, moving them down to 6th in the table.

The Blues next game is a must-win tie vs Malmo in the Europa League.

Jamie Carragher and Patrick Kluivert have given their thoughts on Chelsea’s form under Sarri, watch the full video below.
