Fans of Spurs have taken to Twitter this evening to react to the news that the club’s new stadium will not include the previously-discussed cheese room.

Tottenham’s stadium project

Spurs’ new stadium has been under construction since 2015.

The ground is set to replace long-time home of the capital outfit, White Hart Lane.

However, a number of delays have seen the official opening date of the new stadium repeatedly pushed back.

The latest of these was announced last week, when it was confirmed that the club’s North London derby clash with Arsenal on the 2nd of March would take place at Wembley:

‘We can today report that remedial works on the safety systems in the new stadium are near completion and we shall then move forward to the final stages of testing the fire detection and alarm system and its integration with the other safety systems.’

‘The success of this testing is critical to our ability to obtain a safety certificate and open the stadium.’

‘We can confirm, therefore, that we shall play our Premier League match against Arsenal on Saturday 2 March at 12.30pm at Wembley Stadium.’

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino subsequently went on to reveal his opinion last Friday that he views it as unlikely that his side will be plying their trade in the club’s new stadium by the end of the season:

‘My gut feeling [is that] it will be tough, but I hope and I wish to be in the new stadium.’

The cheese room is no more…

Whatever the case may be, one piece of information regarding Tottenham’s new home has this evening been made crystal clear.

And that is that the ground will, contrary to previous reports, not contain a much-vaunted cheese room.

In an exclusive update, the Guardian have revealed that the North Londoners never actually planned on introducing such a room in the first place.

‘Cannot contain my fury’

As such, the Tottenham faithful have since taken to Twitter in numbers to react to the news, with some of the highlights showcased below:
