Rafa Benitez provides Newcastle injury update before Blackburn

Blackburn vs Newcastle

Newcastle travel to Blackburn on Tuesday evening for their FA Cup 3rd round replay.

The Magpies hosted Blackburn earlier this month and looked set to crash out of the FA Cup vs Championship opposition.

However, a late Matt Ritchie penalty would secure Newcastle a 1-1 draw.

Newcastle will be in desperate need of a win on Tuesday to regain some much-needed confidence.

Rafa Benitez’s side have not won any of their last five Premier League outings.

They have also fallen into the relegation zone after losing 2-1 vs Chelsea this past weekend.

Newcastle injury update

Newcastle will also have a fair few injury problems heading into the Blackburn tie.

Paul Dummett missed Chelsea’s last game through injury and will once again be ruled out on Tuesday.

Both Robe Elliot and Karl Darlow are also expected to be unavailable vs Blackburn.

Brazilian winger Kenedy is also dealing with a slight knock and may not feature.

On Newcastle’s injuries Rafa Benitez had this to say:

“We have some injuries, knocks and little problems.

“I will try, with these injuries, to find a team that is strong enough to compete and win against Blackburn.”
