BBC Match of the Day call Liverpool ‘champions’

During the BBC’s Match of the Day broadcast of the Brighton versus Liverpool highlights, one piece of commentary stood out.

Jonathan Pearce had the Brighton vs Liverpool job, when he dropped the following line:

Man City conspiracy theories spread

Jonathan Pearce’s comment was throwaway, but it’s upset plenty of Man City fans.

With 16 matches left in the season, it wouldn’t be the greatest of shocks if Man City managed to claw back top spot from Liverpool.

Yet that’s not stopping people venting on social media that there’s a conspiracy to stop Man City winning the league.
