Marcos Alonso advises Chelsea teammate Hudson-Odoi: ‘I don’t know why someone would go to Bayern’

Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso has this afternoon advised teammate Callum Hudson-Odoi against joining Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.

Chelsea prodigy

Hudson-Odoi, an 18-year-old winger/forward, has been on Chelsea’s books since joining the club at U8-level.

And the gifted attacker has since gone on to establish himself as one of, if not the most highly-regarded starlet on the books of the Blues.

However, to this point, Hudson-Odoi’s attempts to carve out any sort of meaningful playing time in Chelsea’s first-team have left the English youth international frustrated.

He was first handed an opportunity to impress as part of the club’s senior setup by former boss Antonio Conte last season.

However, despite having been expected to kick on and feature more prominently this season, especially due to the recent struggles of Willian, Hudson-Odoi has been afforded just 4 starts under Maurizio Sarri to this point in the campaign (though 2 of these have come in the Blues’ last 2 outings).

In addition, the teen has managed just a solitary appearance in the Premier League, as a substitute.

As such, a number of European giants are rumoured to be keen on taking advantage of Hudson-Odoi’s difficult situation in London by luring him away with the promise of regular first-team football.

Bayern bound?

Chief among these clubs are Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.

To this point, the Bavarians have tabled 4 bids for the Chelsea starlet, the latest of which, according to Sky Sports News, saw Bayern meet the Blues’ £35 million asking price:

And, with Hudson-Odoi continuing to stall on signing a new contract at Stamford Bridge (his current deal expires next summer), reports have mounted of late that the English youngster has his heart set on a move to the Allianz Arena.

‘We are Chelsea’

However, one individual who assures Hudson-Odoi would be making a mistake in departing the Premier League for the Bundesliga in the near future is Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso.

The Spanish full-back highlights the fact that his Blues’ teammate already plies his trade for a ‘great team’, before questioning why any player ‘would go to Bayern Munich’.

As per Sky Sports, Alonso explained:

‘He is a good player, but he is very young.’

‘He needs to have patience and to be hungry and fight for a place in this team.’

‘That is all he needs to do. He has all the conditions to be a great player. Now it is up to him to fight for a place here or try to find more minutes somewhere else.’

‘Bayern Munich? We are Chelsea, another great team. The Premier League is the most competitive league in the world. I don’t know why someone would go to Bayern Munich.’
