Dani Alves claims he’s no regrets over snubbing Chelsea and Man City

No regrets for Alves

Dani Alves has spoken about his career in depth, and noted he has no regrets.

The full back could have played under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.

The pair were so successful together during their time at Barcelona.

However, Alves noted it was a family decision, and he did not end up making the move.

Sky Sports report he said: “It was all done to go to Manchester City but it didn’t happen because of a family decision.

“Pep knew my intentions. I spoke with him, he knew my intention to work with him and his staff again. He knows the gigantic respect I have for them, which is why I wanted to work with him again until something else came up.

“In life you have to weigh everything up, even when they are just decisions about your career. I like my decisions to be taken carefully, so they don’t harm anyone close to me, so that the people close to me are happy.

Guardiola admiration

Alves added that he loved working with Pep Guardiola.

He said linking up again would have been ideal, yet it was not meant to be.

The former Barcelona player also compared playing for Guardiola to being better than sex.

Guardiola of course had a great reply for that comment.

Alves added: “I know that if the people close to me are happy, I am happy, and I can do my job better. For me, it was a shame not to work with Guardiola again because he knows I adore him, but at the same time it was a new challenge which is what changed my mind.”

He also admits he could have ended up at Chelsea under Jose Mourinho. However, things did not work out.
