Liverpool have dialled it back

Liverpool have reduced their intensity this season.

That’s according to Craig Burley.

He thinks that Jurgen Klopp’s men are less intense than last season. Burley also added that against Arsenal last season, Liverpool would have approached the game differently.

The Express report he said“They seem to have taken it down at least a notch in terms of their intensity.

“I know Arsenal are on a great run and Unai Emery’s doing some good things at the moment down there.

“But they would have smothered this Arsenal team, they would have stifled the mistakes out of them.

“They didn’t do that.”

The Champions League

Burley also backed Liverpool to get through in their Champions League group.

The Reds lost to Red Star Belgrade in a shock result.

However, the fact PSG and Napoli have drawn twice has certainly helped Klopp’s men.

He added:  “If I was PSG I think I’d be relatively confident.

“If I’ve got Liverpool at home, who aren’t quite playing as well as they were last year.

“But they’re just slightly undercooking what they were.

“You’ve got PSG who are playing them (Liverpool) at home. You’ve got PSG who’ve got arguably the worst team in the segment (Red Star), but it’s away from home.

“I think if I was them, I’d be saying ‘listen, there’s six points here’.

“I’m going to say PSG go through. I can see them beating Liverpool in Paris and I’ll think they’ll do enough in Belgrade.

“With Liverpool at home I’m going to say Liverpool (to go through as well).”

City and Chelsea’s form

Liverpool may have one eye on the title this season, but they also have competition.

Not only are Chelsea sat level on points with the Reds, and going strong under Maurizio Sarri, but City are better than ever.

City are two points clear at the top of the table.

Pep Guardiola’s men are better than before, and held Liverpool to a draw, unlike last season.

All three of the teams chasing the title are also unbeaten.
