Injury update: Mohamed Salah returns to Liverpool following x-rays results

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has returned to Merseyside following an x-ray on an injury, the Egyptian FA confirm.

The 26-year-old was substituted off during the closing stages of the game with a muscle strain.

Results of the scan determine Salah will be unable to feature in Egypt’s AFCON qualifier against Swaziland.

Egyptian FA on Salah: “Unable to play in the next match”

According to Egypt assistant coach Hany Ramzy, Salah has suffered “a slight sprain” the injury is “only light”.

But following X-rays, Liverpool and the Egyptian FA have decided the player would be unable to feature in the nation’s next game.

The forward will travel back to Melwood to undergo further tests on the injury.

The Egyptian FA’s statement reads:

“Javier Aguirre has allowed Salah to return to his club and he will not participate against Swaziland next Tuesday to give him time to recover.

“Mohamed Salah had complained during yesterday’s match versus Swaziland about stress in his muscle.

“He was medically examined and underwent an X-rays post-game.

“Following communication with Liverpool’s medical staff, it was determined the player would be unable to play in the next match.”

Following his devastating injury in the Champions League final last season, Salah has yet to recapture the fine form which saw him claim the Premier League Golden Boot.

Salah has failed to score in his last four appearances for the Reds and coincidently Liverpool are also without a win in four.

The 26-year-old terrorised defences last season but this campaign he has managed just three goals in 11 appearances.
