Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is being targeted by Paris Saint-Germain for a role as general manager, according to ESPN FC.

The Ligue 1 champions are looking to replace Antero Henrique after the January transfer window.

It is understood that Wenger would prefer a coaching role but would be willing to join should a significant role became vacant.

With Henrique disappointing at the Parc des Princes, Wenger is being lined up as a replacement.

However, it is thought that both Wenger and PSG are unwilling to make a decision until after the January transfer window.

Given the French club’s FFP situation, PSG are looking for a fresh approach in their transfer department.

The 68-year-old would be given control over on and off the pitch aspects including youth teams and transfers.

Currently, it is unclear whether PSG will have room to sign players this winter.

However, in the summer it is expected the picture will become clearer.

PSG are therefore keen to get Wenger in place in order to begin preparing for the summer window.

Henrique has drawn criticism for his failure to sign players in key areas that the club are lacking – such as a defensive midfielder.
