Everton fans lament former target Andriy Yarmolenko coming back to haunt them
A former target of Everton
Everton fans were rolling their eyes as West Ham scored not one but two goals against them.
Of course, going two down isn’t ever going to be ideal – but this was particularly bad.
That’s because the Toffees were heavily linked with Andriy Yarmolenko, the goalscorer of both goals.
Andriy Yarmolenko has been linked to Everton for the last five years. Of course he scores against them on his full Premier League debut. Most Everton thing ever. Since the last Most Everton thing ever

If you’ve not stuck your entire life savings on Yarmolenko scoring against #EFC on his first Premier League appearance you are no Evertonian.

It had been thought Yarmolenko was set to join them in a £15 million deal, before he joined the Hammers instead.
Everton had a long standing interest in the BVB player, and had even made enquiries into buying him as far back as 2015.

A great West Ham debut
It was the perfect debut for Yarmolenko, and West Ham fans were loving it.
Why did that dumb mf not start yarmolenko from the start of the season idk

Need to stick with Lanzini, Anderson & Yarmolenko behind Arnautovic. No space for wilshere.

That yarmolenko is quite some player isn’t he

Of course, Yarmolenko has a history of doing well against them, and caused huge issues for Everton in their Europa League campaign back in 2014/15.

This isn’t the first time Yarmolenko has torn Everton apart either if you remember the time they got carved open by Dynamo Kiev in the Europa League…

Think Everton fans have seen enough highlight reels to know that Yarmolenko does that, all the time. Seems none of the Everton players had a clue. #EFC

I’m getting flashbacks from our 2014/15 Europa League season watching Yarmolenko destroy us today. #Everton #EVEWHU

Yarmolenko loves to score beauties against Everton doesn’t he

Despite that, Everton were handed hope at the end of the first half.
They managed to score a consolation goal through Gylfi Sigurdsson, meaning a good second half performance could still see them come away with a point or more.
