Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso ‏& Man City’s Benjamin Mendy react to their disappointing FPL Saturday

Chelsea & Man City win

Both Chelsea and Man City collected maximum points in the Premier League on Saturday.

Indeed, both the Blues and Sky Blues won with 3-goal margins.

Chelsea beat Cardiff 4-1 at Stamford Bridge, while Man City turned over Fulham 3-0 at the Etihad Stadium.

Marcos Alonso unhappy with his Cardiff FPL score

One of Chelsea’s standout players this season has been Spanish left-back Marcos Alonso.

Less of a defender and more of a left-winger at left-back, Alonso has been a huge attacking threat for Chelsea.

Alonso has one goal and five Premier League assists already this term. But should the Chelsea star have picked up another assist against Cardiff?

Chelsea’s final goal of the game was scored by Willian.

According to the boffins in charge of the Fantasy Premier League scoring system, no Chelsea player assisted Willian for his goal.

However that irked Alonso, who has called out FPL on social media in the aftermath of the Cardiff game.

Benjamin Mendy’s no-show for Man City

Staying with the best left-backs in the Premier League, is Man City’s Benjamin Mendy better than Marcos Alonso?

Mendy has returned to action for the Sky Blues this term having missed the majority of 2017-18 through injury.

The French World Cup winner has been explosive down City’s left side this season.

While he’s yet to score, Mendy has five Premier League assists this season.

Yet, against Fulham on Saturday, the defender was a surprise omission from Pep Guardiola’s side.

Rather than being injured, Mendy was rested as City prepare for their 2018-19 Champions League campaign.

Mendy’s absence caused plenty of problems for FPL managers, and the Man City star has since apologised for his no-show on social media.
