Liverpool vs Tottenham

Liverpool are currently taking on Tottenham in the opening game of the weekend.

Liverpool came into this game joint top of the table.

The Reds have beaten West Ham 4-0, Crystal Palace 2-0, Brighton 1-0 and Leicester City 2-1.

Tottenham, on the other hand, have beaten Newcastle 2-1, Manchester United 3-0 and Fulham 3-1.

Spurs did lose their last game 2-1 to Watford though.

Liverpool’s solid start

The game started off well for Liverpool.

They controlled the game very well for the first 10 minutes or so.

Firmino even had the ball in the back of the net inside a minute. But it was judged to be offside after Sadio Mane showed an interest in the ball.

Spurs defence did look asleep at the begging of the game, however, they have somewhat grown into the game.

Eric Dier’s mistake

Despite Spurs settling into the game and managing to control Liverpool a bit better, they did nearly give away an easy goal.

Spurs were playing the ball around in their own half with little pressure.

But Eric Dier would then play a very poor ball back to his defence.

The ball went in between the two centre-backs and allowed the pacey Mohamed Salah to run on to it.

Salah got through on goal but luckily for Dier, Salah’s shot was poor and it was an easy save for Vorm.

Twitter reacts

Although Dier was not punished for his mistake, Twitter has reacted furiously to Dier who did something similar in the Tottenham Liverpool game last season.
