Tottenham, on the other hand, had won three and lost one.

The first 45

The game started off well for Liverpool.

They controlled the game very well for the first 10 minutes or so.

Firmino even had the ball in the back of the net inside a minute. But it was judged to be offside after Sadio Mane showed an interest in the ball.

Eric Dier would then play a very poor ball back to his defence that nearly allowed Liverpool an early lead.

The ball went in between the two centre-backs and allowed Mohamed Salah to run on to it.

Salah got through on goal but luckily for Dier, Salah’s shot was poor and it was an easy save for Vorm.

However, Liverpool would take a 1-0 lead before half-time as Wijnaldum headed Klopp’s men ahead thanks to a bit of help from goal-line technology.

Trippier costs Tottenham

Liverpool started the second half very well.

They were dominating Spurs and causing their defence problems.

Most specifically, Kieran Trippier who was pushing far to forward and not marking Sadio Mane tight enough.

Spurs would eventually be punished for this as Mane broke down the wing, put a ball into the box which was then spilt by Vorm for Firmino to tap in.

Twitter reacts

Trippier had been marking Mane poorly for much of the game.

As a result, some fans have taken to Twitter to express their anger at the right-back.
