David Silva has announced his plans to return to Spain to play for his local club Las Palmas.

His contract with City is due to expire in 2020 and he is expecting to leave the club then.

In the summer of 2020, Silva plans to assess the physical level he is at and then make his decision over his next move.

Silva told the BBC:

“For City, two more seasons – what’s left on my contract.

“After that, I don’t know. It depends how I feel physically and mentally.

“I’ve always said that I’d like to play for Las Palmas – my local team.

“But we’ll see how things go in two years and take it all from there.”

Last month Silva announced his retirement from international football with Spain.

David Silva is expecting Manchester City to be pushed to regain their Premier League title this season.

The Spaniard acknowledges that many of their rivals have strengthened since last season.

Silva said:

“Other teams have strengthened.

“Liverpool and Chelsea have, United seem to be having some issues.

“Then there’s Tottenham who play really good football, I think they’ll be in the running.”
