Why Man City’s David Silva missed the Arsenal game

David Silva out vs Arsenal

A few hours before the team sheets were announced on Sunday, the news broke.

David Silva is out for Man City against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

Silva, who was in the Spain squad at the 2018 World Cup, missed several matches last season for personal reasons.

But the reason for Silva’s absence against Arsenal this weekend was medical.

According to reports, Man City’s medical staff have decided not to risk the midfielder in the opening weekend of the season.

That’s likely to be a boost for Bernardo Silva and Phil Foden, who should be involved on Sunday.

Man City’s squad vs Arsenal

Man City’s squad for the Arsenal game is as follows.

Goalies: Ederson, Claudio Bravo, Daniel Grimshaw

Defenders: John Stones, Benjamin Mendy, Vincent Kompany, Nicolas Otamendi, Aymeric Laporte, Kyle Walker

Midfielders: Fernandinho, Riyad Mahrez, Kevin de Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, Leroy Sane, Raheem Sterling, Ilkay Gundogan, Phil Foden

Forwards: Gabriel Jesus, Sergio Aguero

The big concern for Arsenal on Sunday is who to deploy at left-back.

Sead Kolasinac is out for around 10 weeks with a knee injury and Nacho Monreal has also been struggling for fitness.
