Pogba impresses

Jose Mourinho has hailed Paul Pogba’s display for Manchester United after the midfielder gave it all for the club following France’s World Cup win.

Many had doubts over if Pogba would be fit enough to play, but the midfielder shocked everyone with his durability.

Mourinho also handed him the captain’s armband, and he played just like a captain of Manchester United should, and his manager was gushing in his praise for the player.

“Pogba was a monster,” Sky Sports report Mourinho said in his post-match press conference. “We thought maximum [he would play] 60 minutes, but he managed more than 80.

“It was not a hard decision [to start Pogba], the decision was down to him. With Ander Herrera injured, I had only two options, Scott McTominay or Pogba.

“If I played Scott, I would have two kids and a new player [Fred] in midfield. So I asked Paul and he put himself forward for the team and was very, very good for us.”

Man United off to a winning start

It’s a winning start for United in a season where not only will the title be tougher than ever to win, with Manchester City looking to repeat their 100 points season, but also Liverpool strengthening.

Mourinho was disappointed with the summer transfer window United had – and noted that, calling the season ahead ‘difficult’ after seeing other sides add players and his falter.

However, the players he had did very well against Leicester, and there was even some praise for Luke Shaw, who looks well conditioned – for the first time in his United career.
