Joe Hart opens up on leaving Manchester City for Burnley

Joe Hart recently left Premier League giants Manchester City for Burnley and after making his Burnley debut in a Europa League clash vs Turkish side, Basaksehir, Hart spoke to the Daily Mail about his time at City and his move to Burnley.

‘I’m a big head to chop off if you want to shake things up’

In his interview Hart stated,

“Politically, it’s been quite difficult to believe in me recently.

“I’m a big head to chop off if you want to shake things up. I’ve got vast experience and won things but I was a loanee, which is what you expect from someone around aged around 18 to 21.

“It was difficult for people to warm to what I was doing. Except from inside the dressing room, nobody knew what I was about. Wherever I’ve been then that’s where my heart and soul is.

“I’ve got a few years here and want to go deep with it. I needed to cut ties with City and I feel like I’ve been set free. Officially, I’ve been at one club for 12 years. I’m excited to be at a new one. My whole life is this club.”

Up and down career

Hart joined Manchester City from Shrewsbury in July of 2006 for a fee of around £810,00 after racking up 53 appearances for Shrewsbury, in which he kept 14 clean sheets.

Hart then spent a lot of time out on loan, most notable at Birmingham where he played 41 and kept 12 clean sheets.

The Englishman would eventually force his way into the City side and would go on to play an astonishing 348 games for City, in which he kept a staggering 137 clean sheets.

However, after a disappointing Euro 2016 and the arrival of Pep Guardiola to City, Hart found himself out of favour and as a result was loaned out to both Torino and West Ham, neither of these spells did Hart any favours as he was still quite error-prone.

This has now led to Joe Hart leaving City for Burnley for a fee in the region of £3.51m.
