Happy

Everton manager Marco Silva has been speaking about his sides transfer business this summer as well as a dramatic deadline day.

The Toffees were coming off the back of a poor season but Marco Silva joined the club following his sacking at Watford last year.

He instantly looked to put his own identity on the squad, with he and director of football Marcel Brands selling several players.

While it was expected there would be a cautious amount of players brought in, the club signed four players on deadline day alone.

Deadline day drama

One of those players was Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes and Silva has been speaking about how the club were offered him during negotiations for Yerry Mina.

“It was a good opportunity for us in the market,” he explained in a press conference today, cited by the Liverpool Echo.

“We were dealing with Barcelona with Mina and I know the player very well. For sure he will help us.”

He also discussed Bernard’s arrival, explaining that he was signed due to differences to current options Gylfi Sigurdsson and Kieran Dowell.

“Different profile. He can play on the left, right and behind the striker. We have Gylfi and Kieran Dowell but he is a different profile. He is going to bring quality and competition.

Happy

Safe to say, Marco Silva is happy about the business and explained how the club is now stronger following the transfer window.

“We are stronger. But we have to start work with them to gel everything and adapt them as soon as possible.”

“We signed six players. It’s easy when we sign one player like Bernard because you need a player with that profile.

“The left-back was the same situation. We had to bring in a new one.

“Of course you are happy. There is good competition. Now we have to start working. We want to win every game and will do everything to win all our matches but everyone knows what our goal is and now it is for the players to work hard and to support them to do well.”
