Jurgen Klopp pays heartfelt tribute to Danny Ings after his move to Southampton

‘The biggest emotion is how much we will miss him’

Danny Ings completed a late move to Southampton on a season-long loan earlier this evening, which has lead to Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp to come out with an emotional message for Ings after his departure.

“It is a very strange feeling saying goodbye to Danny. The biggest emotion is how much we will miss him,” he told the club’s official website.

“He is such an outstanding boy. Honestly, if you could bottle character and spirit, his would sell worldwide – he is so incredibly positive and full of energy. But we won’t just miss his character because he is a footballer who has all the tools.

“We say farewell to a friend, but for Danny I know the best chapters in his personal story are still to be written. He is as fit now as at any point of his career I would bet and he just requires the opportunity. He has that opportunity and on behalf of his Liverpool family we say good luck Danny and we will miss you.”

Mass clearout

The Telegraph has recently reported that Liverpool are set for a mass clearout this summer.

As per the report, Klopp could be set to shift on many players this summer, raising over £100m in the process.

Some of the players Liverpool could be set to sell are the underperforming Loris Karius, Divock Origi, Sheyi Ojo, Lazar Markovic and Pedro Chirivella and of course Danny Ings

This is hardly surprising given that Liverpool have already brought in four fresh faces to the Liverpool squad this summer meaning departures were always likely.

Furthermore, according to The Telegraph Danny Ings was a reported target of several Premier League clubs and despite the heavy competition, Southampton were able to sign Ings from Liverpool in a last-gasp deadline-day deal.
