Game Recap: Atlanta Hawks 97, LA Clippers 81

LAS VEGAS — The Atlanta Hawks defeated the Los Angeles Clippers, 97-81, in the Las Vegas Summer League at Thomas and Mack Center on Friday.
While there were five ties and six lead changes in this game, Atlanta dominated late. In fact, the Hawks outscored the Clippers in the fourth quarter, 30-12, ending the game on a 21-6 run across the final seven minutes of action. Three-point shooting was the decisive statistic, with Atlanta connecting on 8-of-20 from long range while Los Angeles hit just 3-of-21. The Hawks ended up shooting 45.5 percent from the field while holding the Clippers to just 39.1 percent shooting. Both teams were crashing the boards at will, as they each brought down 19 offensive rebounds apiece. Bench production was also critical for Atlanta, outscoring Los Angeles’ bench, 49-27
The Hawks (3-3) best players came off the bench, as Junior Robinson led the team with 20 points and two assists. Alpha Kaba was just as valuable off the bench, providing 14 points, 15 rebounds, three assists, two steals and four blocks. Brandon Sampson also played well off the bench, totaling 15 points and six boards. Robert Johnson led the starters with 18 points and three rebounds.
The Clippers (2-4) were led by Jordan Matthews, as he accrued 18 points, four rebounds and two steals. Reggie Upshaw amassed 12 points and nine boards. Jawun Evans collected 10 points, three rebounds, five assists and two steals while Jaylen Johnson led the bench with 16 points and six boards.
