Tottenham interested in signing Borussia Dortmund midfielder is today reporting that Tottenham are keeping an eye on Borussia Dortmund midfielder, Mario Gotze.

Gotze is said to be available for around £18 million which is not a bad price for such a quality player in today’s market.

Creative midfielder

Gotze began his senior career with Borussia Dortmund before moving to Bayern Munich in July of 2013 for a fee of around £33.3 million.

Gotze played 114 games for Bayern in which he scored 36 and assisted 24. However, when his first-team chances became limited at Bayern Gotze rejoined Dortmund in 2016 for a fee of around £19.8 million.

Over his two spells at Dortmund Gotze has played 164 games, scored 35 and assisted an impressive 53.

But his second spell at Dortmund has not been as advantageous as his first and as a result, he could well wish to move on from Dortmund this summer.

Where would Gotze fit in?

Even though Gotze has been very impressive throughout his career, it is hard to see him breaking into Spurs front four at this time.

Son, Deli Ali and Christian Eriksen are all top quality players and at this moment in time, are all probably better than Gotze.

They also already have two solid back up wingers in Erik Lamella and Lucas.

So, if Gotze were to move to London this summer, he would likely spend much of the season as a substitute.

Given Gotze needs to try and salvage his previous form that is probably not what is best for his career.

So, maybe Gotze would be better of signing for a side that would be able to guarantee him a lot more game time than Spurs would be able to.
