Malcom set to snub Tottenham for Inter Milan

Tottenham have been dealt a huge blow in their pursuit of Bordereaux winger Malcom today as, according to TUTTOmercatoWEB, Malcom only wants a move to Inter Milan and does not wish to join Spurs.

Wonderkid

Malcom would have certainly be a solid backup winger for any of Tottenham’s attacking midfielders.

The 21-year-old began his career in Brazil with Corinthians where he would make 54 appearances, scoring seven and assisting five in that time.

Malcom would then move to Ligue 1 side Bordeaux in 2016 for just £4.5 million.

The Brazilian has played 96 games for the French side and has scored 23 and assisted 16 in that period.

However, Malcom’s 2017/18 season was perhaps the most impressive. In 35 league games, he scored 12 and assisted seven, a very impressive record for such a young right winger.

Interest from elsewhere

Inter Milan were reportedly keen to sign Malcom on a season-long loan with an option to buy.

However, Bordeaux were not willing to allow this, which did open the door to Tottenham swooping in for Malcom as they have been linked with the young winger for some time now.

But it now seems Bordereaux are willing to loan Malcom with an obligation to buy, meaning Spurs are very likely to miss out on him.

Liverpool have also been linked with the winger over the past few weeks.

But Liverpool’s interest appears to lie elsewhere, they have been most strongly linked with Stoke City’s Xherdan Shaqiri who is likely to leave Stoke this summer after they were relegated last season.

So, it does appear that Inter are the front-runners in the race to sign the Brazilian

Another factor that may have made Malcom chose Spurs is his game time as if he did join Spurs as would likely only have been used as a backup to Deli Ali, Christian Eriksen and Son Heung-min.

Spurs also have Erik Lamella and Lucas as sub wingers meaning Malcom would have had to fight very hard for a regular spot at Spurs.
