Everton close in on Barcelona’s Lucas Digne & Yerry Mina

Everton & Barcelona

According to the Times’s Paul Joyce, Everton are working on a double deal with FC Barcelona this summer.

Everton are in another period of transition in 2018.

Sam Allardyce has left Goodison Park after his relatively short spell in charge of the Toffees.

He’s been replaced by Marco Silva, while Everton have appointed former PSV technical director Marcel Brands as their new technical director.

But Everton have yet to make any signings this off-season.

At the same time, Wayne Rooney has left to join DC United while Ramiro Funes Mori now plays for Villarreal.

Lucas Digne & Yerry Mina

The Times announce that Everton are hoping to sign two Barcelona defenders this summer:

Everton are set to move for the Barcelona left back Lucas Digne as part of a double deal involving his Nou Camp team-mate Yerry Mina.

Digne, a France international, is Marco Silva’s preferred choice after a move for Celtic’s Kieran Tierney was deemed too expensive. The Everton manager wants competition for Leighton Baines.

It’s worth noting that Baines has been linked with an Everton exit this summer. However the Times believe Baines will remain with the Toffees.

So how much will Everton have to pay for Digne?

The 24-year-old left back joined Barcelona from PSG for 16 million euros in 2016. It’s believed Everton could be able to sign Digne for a little over 10 million pounds.

As for Yerry Mina, a fee of £21 million has been bandied about as a possible transfer fee.

Whether that’s accurate remains to be seen. Many believe that while Barcelona could loan out Mina, the Catalans don’t want to sell their Colombian centre-half this summer.
