Everton reportedly have €30million Doucouré bid rejected
Everton have reportedly made their move for Watford midfielder Abdoulaye Doucouré having had a bid of €30million rejected by the Hornets.
The French midfielder has impressed many of the top six with his performances in the Premier League last season, particularly early on.
That form came under current Toffees boss Marco Silva who eventually left Watford after they judged him to have become complacent after interest from Goodison.
Javi Gracia eventually took over and while Watford never really recovered that form they showed early on, Doucoure impressed throughout.
That lead to suggestions that Tottenham and several top clubs were monitoring the player head of the move.
Now, there have been suggestions that Everton and his former boss Silva have made their move.
That is because reports from French outlet RMC, as cited by Tom Coast of Sport Witness, has suggested that a €30million Toffees bid has been rejected.
Not only that, the player has suggested that he would like to remain at the Hornets for one more season to prove himself further.
That means that a deal could be very unlikely, with the player not pushing for a move and also the strain on the relationship between Everton and Watford.
Following the Silva ordeal, Watford submitted a formal complaint to the Premier League over Everton’s approach for him in 2017.
After he was appointed as their boss this summer, the club felt that strengthened their argument that he was essentially tapped up.
Safe to say, that means that any negotiations for a Watford player would be extremely tough and that means a move for Doucoure is likely a non-starter.
RMC claim that Everton have made an offer of €25m plus bonuses of €5m for Watford midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure. The offer has been turned down with the player wanting to stay at the club for another season to further establish himself in the Premier League.
