Kylian Mbappe responds brilliantly to France criticism after Belgium win
France star Kylian Mbappe has responded to the criticism of his side that they used ‘anti-football’ tactics to beat Belgium in the World Cup semi-final.
The game was expected to be an open affair but Didier Deschamps side knew after going ahead in the game that they would need to hold on for dear life.
The Frenchman started to sit back and make Belgium break them down, something which many claimed was ‘anti-football’ tactics.
Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois were two that were very outspoken about France’s tactics following the game.
Hazard claimed that he would rather be on the losing side than win the way that France did.
“I prefer to lose with this Belgium than win with that France,” he explained, as cited by the Daily Mirror.
Mbappe hits back
Now, French star Kylian Mbappe has responded to that criticism and it’s safe to say he doesn’t care too much for it.
The Paris Saint-Germain forward has been the star man for his nation this summer and was asked about the criticism after the game.
He sarcastically apologised to the Belgium players but made sure it was known that he was in the final, and they were not.
“If I offended them, I apologize. But me, I’m in the final,” said Mbappé, cited by The Local.
“At the end of the match, we gave everything to defend this little advantage. It’s not the most pleasant, but it’s effective.”
