Chelsea star Eden Hazard: ‘Real is everyone’s dream, but…’

Chelsea star Eden Hazard has today spoken out over the mounting rumours that he could make the move to Spanish giants Real Madrid this summer.

Exit links

27-year-old attacker Hazard endured, along with Chelsea, a rather hit-and-miss campaign this past season, with the early months of 2018 having proven particularly frustrating for the gifted Belgian.

After being forced into a false 9 role by manager Antonio Conte due to the fitness and form struggles of Alvaro Morata, Hazard was left looking isolated and generally dismayed on the pitch, quickly leading to rumours in both Spain and England that the former Lille prodigy could seek an exit from the club this summer.

Real Madrid have been the side most heavily touted as a potential destination, with Los Blancos eyeing additions in attacking areas ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo’s expected departure for Juventus.

A sensational swap deal which would see Hazard head to the Bernabeu as part of an exchange for Blancos’ starlet Marco Asensio has even been touted by some Spanish outlets.

‘The white jersey is special’

As such, Hazard himself was questioned on the rumours surronding his name during an interview with beIN SPORTS earlier today, with the gifted attacker, who is preparing for Belgium’s World Cup semi-final clash with France tonight, having admitted that donning the white of Real Madrid is a ‘dream’ for any player:

‘Does Real make me dream less without Zidane?’

‘Zidane is someone special, it’s true, but I think Real is everyone’s dream.

However, the 27-year-old was quick to also make clear that he is more than happy at Stamford Bridge, explaining:

‘Zidane or no Zidane, the white jersey [of Madrid] is special but the blue jersey [of Chelsea] suits me well so it does not bother me if I stay.’

‘For now, it’s the World Cup. As I have said at least 100 times, I am at Chelsea and for the moment nobody has made me an offer.’
