Christian Benteke’s Crystal Palace career looks to be over

Christian Benteke & Crystal Palace

The 2017-18 season was brutal for Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke.

The 27-year-old Belgian international only scored three Premier League goals for the Eagles.

Benteke also contributed six Premier League assists as Crystal Palace recovered from losing their first seven games of the campaign to stay up.

A former Aston Villa and Liverpool centre-forward, Benteke is Palace’s record signing at a little under 30 million pounds.

Yet, according to the Mirror on Thursday, Benteke’s days at Selhurst Park may soon be over.

Benteke’s Chinese escape route

Will Benteke eave Crystal Palace to move to China?

That deal is on the cards, as Hebei China Fortune, who now have former Palace defender Chris Coleman at the helm, are chasing his signature. The Mirror report:

Chris Coleman could offer Christian Benteke an escape route from Crystal Palace.

Palace striker Benteke is one of the attacking options on new Hebei China Fortune boss Coleman’s transfer shortlist. Palace are open to offers for Benteke.

For the record, Benteke missed out on a place in Belgium’s squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Belgium’s main strikers at the competition will be Chelsea’s Michy Batshuayi and Man United’s Romelu Lukaku.
