PSG cleared of any wrongdoing after UEFA financial fair play investigation

Paris Saint-Germain have been cleared of breaching any financial fair play rules after a UEFA investigation into the clubs dealings.

It all started back when the club was able to €222million on the signing of Neymar, a move that looked impossible to pull off without breaching FFP rules.

Though, the club went one step further when they announced that they would be signing Kylian Mbappe on a 12-month loan deal with an option to buy.

That lead to questions from all over the globe as to whether this should be aloud and whether PSG should be punished.

That lead to a UEFA investigation, but the governing body has now determined that the club have done nothing wrong.

The statement, as quoted by the Daily Mirror, reveals that the investigatory chamber has called a close to the investigation.

“The CFCB Investigatory Chamber further decided to close the investigation into Paris Saint-Germain,” the statement read.

“Such decision follows a detailed review of transfer contracts and an analysis of the related management accounts which confirmed that such transactions were in line with the UEFA Club Licensing & Financial Fair Play Regulations.

“Furthermore, the chamber concluded that after significant fair value adjustments of several club sponsorship contracts – on the basis of evaluations performed by independent third party assessors – the break-even result of the club remains within acceptable deviation for the financial years ending in 2015, 2016 and 2017.

“The financial impact of transfer activities as from the 2017 summer – up to and including the upcoming transfer window – and compliance with the break-even requirement for the 2018 financial year will remain under close scrutiny and will be thoroughly looked at in the coming weeks.”
