Brazil goalkeeper Alisson claims Neymar’s confidence is key after injury

Confidence is key

AS Roma and Brazil goalkeeper Alisson Becker has revealed that Neymar rediscovering his confidence has been key in his return to fitness.

The Brazilian has impressed among his return from injury with Paris Saint-Germain and scored an impressive goal in their last game against Austria.

He has shown that he is well and truly ready for the World Cup in Russia and his countries hope of glory rest on his shoulders.

Though, it wasn’t so easy as it seemed for Neymar when he initially returned to training.

Brazil goalkeeper Alisson has detailed Neymar’s return to training and has explained that the side went easy on him.

He even revealed that the player had to deal with fears over the injury, but his confidence quickly grew.

‘Neymar is doing very well, fortunately. I believe they dealt really well with his recovery process. He had a full clinical recovery,’ he told FourFourTwo on Tuesday.

‘Of course in the beginning, when he started working with the ball and working with the team we were extra careful.

‘He had to deal with the fear, which is normal after such a severe injury. And we also tried to take good care of him in the training sessions.

‘Gradually he became more confident. He started in the second half in the first game (against Croatia), he helped us, he lost the fear to play.

‘And in the last game he played really well and I think that made him more confident.

‘We need Neymar on the field.’
