West Ham and Everton on alert as Porto star reveals Premier League dream

Highly sought-after Porto striker Moussa Marega has today hinted at a possible summer move to the Premier League.

Prolific goalscorer

Marega, a 27-year-old Malian international, has been on the books of Porto since 2016, when he joined the Portuguese giants from Maritimo.

Having initially been sent out for a loan spell with Vitoria Guimarães during the 2016/17 campaign proved during which he found the net 13 times in the league, Marega since continued his excellent form back at the Estádio do Dragão with Porto this past season.

The 13-time capped international racked up a hugely-impressive 22 goals and 4 assists in 29 Liga NOS outings (27 starts), alerting some of Europe’s biggest clubs to his talents.

PL future?

English giants Manchester United and Chelsea were both linked with moves for Marega this past January, with the latter having reportedly identified the African goalscorer as an alternative to eventual signing Olivier Giroud.

However, reports over the months since have named West Ham United and Everton as more realistic suitors, with Marega’s comments during an interview with SFR Sport earlier today no doubt set to put both clubs on red alert:

‘I, we [Porto] had a beautiful year and with this title of champion that is a huge pride. I’m coming out of a year with 23 goals in all competitions.’

‘For me, I think this is perhaps the best time to try my luck elsewhere, to live a new experience, to know a new championship, the Premier League, for example.’

‘And it hurts me to say that because I am very attached to this club, to its supporters who give me a lot.’

‘I like this championship for a long time. At the same time, who does not like the Premier League. It’s a very big league, with very big players.’

‘It’s flattering when clubs are interested in you, but I have always dreamed of playing there. I want to be happy, with my family, in a championship that I love.’
