Liverpool target Alisson hints at Roma stay

In-demand AS Roma star Alisson has this afternoon spoken out over his future, revealing that he is ‘very happy’ with life at the Stadio Olimpico.

Alisson, full name Alisson Becker, is a 25-year-old Brazilian international, and emerged as one of the most impressive goalkeepers in world football after taking over as Roma’s no.1 this past season, following the end of Wojciech Szczęsny’s loan with the club.

The former Internacional star has already earned 26 international caps, and is currently viewed as the Selecao’s first-choice between the posts, ahead of Manchester City’s Ederson.

Alisson’s stellar form over the last 10 months has seen the South American linked with a whole host of top European clubs, with English giants Liverpool long named as the side expressing the most genuine interest in his services.

The Reds are known to have been keeping an eye out for reinforcements in the goalkeeping department for some time now, with the costly performance of Loris Karius in the Champions League final having since seen links between Liverpool and Alisson intensify (though an explanation has since emerged for Karius’ nightmare in Kiev).

Despite the intense speculation surrounding his future, Alisson himself has remained relatively tight-lipped with regards to where he will be plying his trade next season, though the shot-stopper did hint at a possible transfer during an interview with UOL Esporte on Sunday night, when he revealed:

‘There are some possibilities and we are working on all of them, together with Roma, always respecting the club. We’ll see if anything happens this week.’

‘I have a contract’

However, when asked for the latest on his future by reporters whilst continuing his preparations for the World Cup earlier today, Alisson was keen to make clear his absolute happiness with life at Roma:

‘I’m focusing on my work with Brazil. People are taking care of other issues regarding Roma. Whatever happens will be for the best.’

‘I try not to read the news so much. It helps not to read speculation. Nothing official has come my way. I have a contract with Roma.’

‘I’m very happy in Italian football, I’m very happy in Rome.’
