Bad news for Arsenal & Liverpool: Thomas Lemar’s next move revealed

Arsenal, Liverpool & Thomas Lemar

Ever since Monaco won the French title in 2016-17, Thomas Lemar has been linked with a Premier League move.

Arsenal tried and failed to sign Lemar last summer. While Liverpool have been consistently linked to the French international as the Reds look to boost their midfield options.

Yet stories linking Lemar to either Arsenal or Liverpool could soon be over.

That’s after reports on Monday night in Spain claimed that Lemar’s move to Atletico Madrid is virtually a done deal.

From Monaco to Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid are on the verge of confirmed Lemar’s move from Monaco, report Spanish outlet Cadena SER.

The Spanish radio station announced that Lemar’s Atletic omove will be confirmed “shortly”.

Cadena SER also claim that Lemar knows what his number will be at Atletico next season: he is inheriting the number 10.

Should the Lemar transfer update prove true, the French international will join Antoine Griezmann at the Wanda Metropolitano next season.

For the record, Lemar, 22, is under contract at Monaco until 2020.

Lemar’s output declined a little last season in Ligue 1.

He only scored three goals and chipped in with 10 assists in 38 matches in all competitions.

How much will Lemar cost Atletico?

Sadly Cadena SER fail to report on Lemar’s transfer fee.

Last summer, when Arsenal tried to buy the midfielder, Monaco were said to be demanded close to 100 million euros for Lemar.

Will Atletico pay anything like that figure?

At the same time, Monaco seem to set for another summer of asset-stripping.

Monaco have already sold Fabinho to Liverpool for the best part of 50 million euros.

Of course, last summer the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Bernardo Silva and Tiemoue Bakayoko all left Monaco.
