Arsenal tie prodigious youngster down to new deal

Premier League outfit Arsenal have this afternoon confirmed that gifted starlet Ainsley Maitland-Niles has put pen to paper on a new contract with the club.

Maitland-Niles, a versatile 20-year-old English youth international, began to make his mark on Arsenal’s first-team squad this past season.

The Gunners’ youth product, who can play at either full-back, on the wing or in central midfield, played a key role in Arsenal’s run to the semi-finals of the Europa League, before also garnering plenty of attention with his performances in the Premier League towards the season’s end.

Despite spending much of his time on the pitch in a left-wing back position, many are of the opinion that Maitland-Niles’ long-term future will see him deployed in the middle of the park, with the starlet having proven exactly why with a superb showing up against the likes of Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic having been given the chance to shine in midfield versus Manchester United at the end of April.

As things stand, Maitland-Niles is considered one of, if not the brightest young prospect at the Emirates, with Arsenal having showcased their faith in the talents of the versatile Englishman by rewarding him with a new long-term contract this afternoon:
