Gareth Bale has had a difficult season but heads towards the end of the campaign with four goals in his last four games, including two last time out against Celta Vigo.
The Welshman has 18 in all competitions for Real Madrid which is a great return considering he has once again seen his season interrupted by injury.
La Liga writer Andrew Gaffney showed how he compares to team-mates Isco and Marco Asensio:

Gareth Bale has 15 league goals for Real Madrid this season. Isco, Benzema and Asensio have scored 18 combined.
‘Having a bad season.’
Despite his fine form he still faces a battle to make Zidane’s starting lineup against Liverpool. The Real Madrid boss has given little away about his team:

Villarreal Will Fancy Their Chances Against Real Madrid

Villarreal head into the game on the back of a 4-2 win over Deportivo La Coruna and know the lowest they can finish is sixth.
Yet they will certainly fancy their chances against Real Madrid having already beaten Atletico Madrid and Valencia at home in La Liga in 2018.
Villarreal also won 1-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu the last time these two sides met in La Liga and so have little to fear.
Pablo Fornals was the match-winner in that game and has enjoyed a productive season, per La Liga:

Striker Carlos Bacca is also in good form and has been nominated for the league’s player of the month award:

Villarreal have home advantage and the firepower to cause Real Madrid problems. They could take advantage of a visiting side who have often been below-par in the league this season and may have their minds on lifting a third consecutive European Cup.
