Moving

Chelsea player Alvaro Morata will leave the club this summer according to Paul Merson, who thinks the player and the club will cut their losses after a very disappointing season.

Chelsea were forced to dip into the market in January and landed Olivier Giroud, who has been preferred to Morata up top, with the Spanish forward struggling with injury and fitness issues.

“I think they’ll have a new manager, for starters,” Merson told Sky Sports.

“It looks that way, although I’d like him to stay. I’d expect some other changes too. I don’t think Alvaro Morata will be there – I don’t think Chelsea suits him and it doesn’t look like he’s enjoying it.”

FA Cup

Morata has struggled badly at the club this term with injury and mentality issues also a huge problem, and with Conte looking odds on favourite to leave come the summer, a new start for Morata will come even if he stays in west London.

A new manager could be the chance to start a fresh with Chelsea and impress – and of course after a pre-season and hopefully time without injury, the player could be in far better shape next season, and could end his season on a massive high if he manages to feature in the game against Manchester United this weekend and even scores to send Chelsea on their way to the FA Cup trophy, something Morata will want to do to at least show the fans he can produce, and also to end his own season on a good note.
