Troublesome time

Jack Butland has spoken out about a tough two years following Stoke City’s relegation to the Championship at the beginning of the month.

The Englishman has been selected in the World Cup squad for his nation as he looks to turn around his recent struggles.

The player has suffered serious injury problems and that has kept him out of action for a while.

Though, having returned from injury, he was unable to prevent Stoke from being relegated from the Premier League.

Turning it around

Now, Butland has explained that life will go on and he must accept what happened and look to improve.

Safe to say, a good showing at the World Cup could well help change his fortunes.

“It’s been a tough two years but I’ll recover from it, like I recover from anything,” explained Butland, as quoted by the Daily Mirror.

“I have to suck up the bad stuff and process things quickly – the injury, losses, relegation – and mentally you have to move on quickly.

“Relegation hurts — even now just thinking about it, it’s a horrible feeling. But life goes on for all of us and we have to dust ourselves down, whether it’s the lads going to the World Cup or on holiday.

“We all have to accept what has happened and improve.

“It’s my nature to strive for the best and to keep pushing and that’s what I’ll continue to do whatever the future holds.”

Stoke City’s response to Wolves £35m Jack Butland deal

There has now been much discussion over Butland’s future as he looks set to leave the Potters to remain in the Premier League.

West Ham were linked before David Moyes’ sacking but Wolves have also been heavily linked with a move.

Though, Stoke City boss Paul Lambert recently responded to reports of Wolves interest.
