As per a report from French outlet 24matins, former Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup has been added to the list of candidates to replace Arsene Wenger at Arsenal.

As has been the talk of world football over the last couple of weeks, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger confirmed on the 20th of April that he is set to bring his 22-year spell in charge of the capital outfit to an end this summer:

Following on from the flood of tributes from players, managers and pundits alike, thanking Wenger for what he has done for the game and wishing him well with his future endeavours, the other big story in the English media has surrounded who could be set to replace the Frenchman in North London this summer.

The likes of Brendan Rodgers, Carlo Ancelotti, Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira, Thomas Tuchel, Mikel Arteta, Luis Enrique and Max Allegri have all been touted as potential arrivals at the Emirates, with previous favourite Allegri having seemingly ruled himself out of the running for the job last Sunday night, after Juventus secured their 7th-straight Scudetto title and 4th-straight domestic double with a 0-0 draw at Roma.

‘If they don’t fire me, I see myself as staying at Juventus next year too‘, the Italian tactician explained during his post-match press conference.

As such, the last 3 days have seen the other hotly-tipped favourite to take over the reigns at the Emirates, in the form of Mikel Arteta, pushed as the clear front-runner to succeed Arsene Wenger in North London.

A report from the Independent earlier this week even went as far as to claim that Arteta is so eager to make a return to the club, that he has ‘already thought up plans for his backroom staff’ at the Emirates.

As such, it is widely predicted that Arteta will be named as the new Gunners’ boss over the next couple of weeks.

However, a rather bizarre story emanating from French outlet 24matins this afternoon has added a new name to the list of candidates being considered as replacements for Arsene Wenger in North London this summer.

As per the report, the man in question is former Juventus, Real Madrid and Barcelona star Michael Laudrup.

Laudrup, 53, has previous experience of managing in the Premier League, having taken charge of Swansea City from 2012-14, and secured the Swans first-ever major silverware in England when he led the Welsh outfit to League Cup glory in 2013.

He is the current manager of Qatari outfit Al Rayyan, but, if 24matins are to be believed, then Laudrup could be on the move in the near future, with Arsenal said to be impressed by the managerial talents possessed by the Danish legend.
