England announce World Cup squad and there are some interesting picks
Gareth Southgate and England have announced the squad for the 2018 World Cup this summer and there are some interesting players included.
The majority of the squad pretty much picked itself with goalkeepers Jordan Pickford, Jack Butland and Nick Pope easily the three best English shot-stoppers.
The defence did not throw up many surprises either, though the inclusion of Fabian Delph is certainly interesting.
The player has been used as a utility player by Manchester City this season and has really impressed at times.
Chris Smalling was also snubbed despite starting 2018 in fine form.

Moving onto the midfield and this is where there is one very interesting pick.
Despite all of Jordan Henderson, Eric Dier, Dele Alli, Jesse Lingard and Raheem Sterling being expected to make the squad, Ruben Loftus-Cheek was not.
The Chelsea loanee has impressed during his time at Crystal Palace this season but has struggled with an injury problem.
Though, it was certainly not expected that the player would be on the plane to Russia.
That is because many thought that Jack Wilshere should be included in the squad and it is likely that his spot was taken by Loftus-Cheek.
Looking more into Loftus-Cheek’s inclusion, it gives England something very different in midfield.
Jordan Henderson and Eric Dier are very defensive minded while Loftus-Cheek is very much a true box to box midfielder with a cutting edge in attack.
England are finished man No Shelvey or Wilshere omds

There was no doubt that Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy were going to make the squad.
Marcus Rashford has impressed in the England setup before and despite struggling to nail down a spot at Old Trafford, he earned his spot on the plane.
Though, it was Danny Welbeck’s inclusion that made the headlines today.
The Arsenal forward has hardly featured in the league this season and his only decent performances came in the Europa League.
Even then, it was only a handful of performances and many people are unsure he should be anywhere near the squad.
How the fudge is Cahill and welbeck going the World Cup?! They’re f**king gash!!
