Twitter users absolutely lynched Harry Kane during Brighton vs Spurs

Viewers of the clash between Brighton and Tottenham have this evening taken to Twitter in numbers to poke fun at Harry Kane.

The two sides are currently locked in action at the Amex Stadium, with hosts Brighton having come into proceedings in a respectable 13th-place in the Premier League table, 7 points clear of the relegation zone.

Chris Hughton’s men fell to a disappointing defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace last time out, after seeing their valiant comeback efforts fall short in a 3-2 loss at Selhurst Park.

Tottenham, meanwhile, currently sit 4th in the Premier League table, 7 points clear of London rivals Chelsea, though Mauricio Pochettino’s men fell to a 3-1 loss to champions Manchester City in their last outing.

The starting lineups of both sides were announced an hour prior to kick-off, with hosts Brighton having made 2 changes to the XI that took on Crystal Palace:

Mauricio Pochettino, meanwhile, opted for a hefty 6 changes to his side:

The opening 45 minutes this evening saw both sides cancel each other out for the most-part, with the likes of Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen and Heung min-Son struggling to make any real impact (until the final minute of the half when the latter forced an excellent save from Matt Ryan).

Brighton, for their part, looked typically solid at the back, and dangerous on occasion on the break through wingers Anthony Knockaert and José Izquierdo.

The second-half , though, could hardly have started out in any more contrasting fashion to the first, with Harry Kane having handed the lead to visitors Spurs in the 48th-minute.

After Brighton gave the ball away cheaply deep in their own half, Victor Wanyama’s touch through was latched onto by Heung-min Son, who did brilliantly to dance his way along the endline before laying off to Kane, who in turned smashed home courtesy of a deflection from Seagulls’ defender Bruno on the line.

Incredibly, though, Brighton equalized just minutes later, after Serge Aurier’s foul on Jose Izquierdo in the Spurs’ box saw a penalty awarded to the hosts, with Pascal Groß stepping up to slot home the ensuing spot-kick.

As was to be expected after Kane’s appeal to have a Christian Eriksen strike awarded to him was successful last week, the masses have since taken to Twitter to have some fun at Kane’s expense, with the best of the roundup below:
