Liverpool target has made more recoveries than any other player in Europe’s top 5 leagues

Is Abdoulaye Doucouré one of Europe’s best midfielders?

Watford started the season in blistering fashion winning 5 of their opening 8 matches in the Premier League.

Things have started to deteriorate in recent months and The Hornets currently sit 12th in the league table.

Despite their drop in form, midfielder Abdoulaye Doucouré has continued to impress and the French midfielder has made more recoveries than any other player in all of EUrope’s top 5 leagues this season according to Opta.

Doucoure has missed just one league game this season (through suspension) and has 7 goals and 9 assists to his name. Not bad for a defensive midfielder.

The 25 year old has attracted the attention of numerous ‘bigger’ clubs such as Liverpool and Arsenal with the player himself admitting that it would be a ‘dream‘ to play for Liverpool.

Where will Doucoure play next season?

Doucoure surely won’t stay at Watford for the upcoming season considering he has the opportunity to play in European competition elsewhere.

Liverpool midfielder Emre Can could be leaving the club in the coming months and Doucoure would be an ideal replacement.

Back in March, Doucoure revealed that Tottenham were after his signature but he would ‘rather play for Arsene Wenger‘ at Arsenal.

Tottenham don’t really need any more midfielders whilst Arsenal clearly need to tighten upon the centre of the park.

However Liverpool seems to be the most likely option for the young midfielder who is under contract at Vicarage Road until 2020.

There are very few players who wouldn’t want to play for Liverpool at this moment in time. Doucoure’s first game for the Reds could even be the UEFA Super Cup in Estonia…
