Bayern Munich confirm midfielder’s season is over ahead of Real Madrid
Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich have this afternoon confirmed that midfielder Arturo Vidal will not play again this season, after being forced to undergo surgery on a knee injury.
Vidal, 30, has played a key role for Bayern to this point in the campaign, appearing on 36 occasions across all competitions.
As such, there was immediate concern amongst all involved with the club when the all-action midfielder was forced out of a training session on Sunday evening with a serious-looking knee injury:
“#Bayern Munchen”in yarımmüdafiəçisi A.#Vidal bir müddət yaşıl meydanlardan kənarda qala bilər.Çilili futbolçu məşqdə dizindən zədə alıb. O, komanda yoldaşlarının köməyilə qolf-karta aparılıb. #Vidalın zədəsinin nə dərəcədə ciddi olmasına tibbi müayinədən sonra aydınlıq gələcək.

Bayern boss Jupp Heynckes provided an update on the fitness of Vidal yesterday morning, with the German tactician playing down fears of a long-term absence for the South American:
‘I’ve met Dr. Müller-Wohlfahrt telephoned. An MRI was performed.’
‘Arturo has a free joint body in the knee. This prevents the stretching. He is already on his way to Augsburg as he needs a small arthroscopic procedure.’
‘For sure, Arturo will only be short-term.’
However, with Vidal having undergone said surgery earlier today, the Bundesliga champions have since revealed that Vidal will in fact not play again this season, a major blow ahead of the club’s upcoming Champions League semi-final tie with European champions Real Madrid:
